Geopsy allows to import continuous data from a seed stream broadcasted by a server and use them for any signal processing in near real time.

Connection to the server

When importing a signal file, choose Seed stream. The Seed link signal loader then starts. One should provide the name of the Server and the Port. The default port for Seed streams is 18000. Then click Connect.

At this point the list of the available stations for which streams are available appears in the window. Each station can be expanded into all its channels (streams). For each channels, the available informations filled by the server are:

  • Location code of the station
  • Seed name of the channel
  • Type
  • Begin Time and End Time
  • Begin recno and End recno
  • Gap check
  • Gap threshold

Example: The Network of GFZ Potsdam ([1]) broadcast its stations using the seedlink protocol. You can look at the data in real time entering name of the server geofon.gfz-potsdam.de and the port 18000. Clicking Connect shows all the available stations.

Selection of the streams

The wanted channels should then be selected either by clicking on them or using the Select command that allows to enter part of the desired station name and then click Select.

Start listening to the streams

When the desired channels are selected, click on the Start button to start listening to these streams. Ensures the log and the green line (See last paragraph) have the awaited behaviour. An icon is displayed on the left of the seed name of each listened channel. It is possible to stop each listened channel by selecting it and clicking Stop.

The button Options allows to modify 2 settings:

  • Start listening gives the starting date and time of the signals that will be imported in Geopsy. It can be From Now or From a specified date and time.
  • Buffer allows to control the buffer size. MORE INFO NEEDED

Viewing and processing the streams

The Tool View is then the main door to Geopsy functionalities. It opens a Graphic Signal Viewer with the streams that started (icon on the left of the channel). The signals can then be dragged and dropped on any Geopsy Tool.

Errors and fixes

At any time, a log is displayed under the streams list as well as a green line indicating the amplitude (?) as a function of time of the downloaded streams from 0 to 1. 0 means no data are downloaded, 1 all the requested data are downloaded.
