Decimate Amplitude pop-up window.

Decimate amplitude, reached from the Waveform menu, downgrades the quality of signals in the active signal viewer.

By clicking on Decimate amplitude, a pop-up window appears with the following options:

  • Absolute maximum number of steps is the number of amplitude bins that should be used for positive values. Ex: a value of 1 leads to three amplitude bins: -1, 0 and 1.
  • Amplitude reference allows to define the value of largest amplitude bin. It can be set to:
    • Value, i.e. a specified value, e.g. 1 Volt to simulate a 2V peak-to-peak digitization.
    • Maximum to set it to the maximum value of the active signals.

Decimate amplitude can be used to test the robustness of a signal processing to the quality of the recordings. It allows to simulate recordings done by low quality digitizers. Decimate amplitude modifies the temporary signals in the active viewer.

Example of extremely decimated signal in amplitude: a 1-bit signal.
