View source for Geopsy: tips for loading text files without header

When loading a multi-column ASCII files without header, the metadata of the signals are not available (see [[Geopsy: Database]]). Particularly, the sampling frequency (or sampling period) is strictly required by Geopsy to create time series. Therefore this information has to be added in the corresponding table field by [[Geopsy: Table#Table editing|editing the table]] or by [[Geopsy: Set header|setting header information]].

Moreover, the sorting procedure applied when using any Geopsy [[Geopsy: Tools|Tool]] requires the ''Name'' of the station and the ''Component''. Without this information, since Geopsy is stacking the signals with the same Name, Component and Receiver coordinates, all the traces will be stacked in the case of an ASCII column file without header that will not lead to the awaited results. Name, Component and Receiver coordinates must be therefore modified by [[Geopsy: Table#Table editing|editing the table]].

'''Note:''' ''Name'' of stations are automatically filled with default names when using the option ''Set "Rxxx" as name'' in the [[Geopsy: Preferences#Signal_names|Preferences]]. In this case, the previous problem does not raise.
