Dinver (Geopsy 3.4.2) Nb Parameter

Post by alcollins »

Hello!

I'm curious about this Nb parameter in the latest version of Dinver. It's not mentioned in Sambridge 1999 or Wathelet 2004 or 2008, and there's no tooltip for it in the program.

I've noticed that when I change it to a non-zero value, the inversion goes much faster and seems to improve in fit. But I'm not sure what it means that Dinver "generated ___ models with Borders". Could somebody provide some more information on this parameter?

Thanks!

Nb stands for number of models generated to scan borders. This is currently an experimental try to improve parameter space exploration. Probably better to not use it and leave it as zero. I got interesting results for small dimension parameter spaces (2, 3 or 4 parameters) but puzzling results for higher dimensions. I had to switch to other topics and I left this work unfinished.
