geopsy.org

I'm trying to download the basic geopsy plus geopsyhv, and get this result (I select the two options on the download page and then press "download". Is there a way to just download the basic package without using this package-builder mechanism? Or a way to make it work?

If some Geopsy packages are already installed, you can reduce the size of the archive to download by uploading your current configuration. You will download only the needed packages.

Example: /Library/Geopsy.org/info.xml

Ok, now it works. The download was smooth and easy, and install pretty much so. I guess maybe the server was acting funny for a few days or something.

Sorry to not answering sooner. Yes, indeed, we faced several issues between beginning of February and end of April, especially for Mac releases. The Mac server in charge of compiling releases for Mac was broken down (random hardware failures), we had to wait for maintenance and to re-install the whole compilation platform. During March, we moved also the main Geopsy server to another location to enjoy a much better bandwidth.

I'm trying to download geopsy for mac and found same issues.

For which Mac OS did you try to download geopsy? I've just tested Snow Leopard, this is fine. For Mac Lion, I fixed several problems yesterday but had no time to finish it yet. This will be fixed today. Mountain Lion is also to be released soon. I have to upgrade the server to Mountain Lion and update the compilation factory.

Default permissions have changed with Lion compared to Snow Leopard. If you encounter the following error while installing:

mkdir '/Library/Geopsy.org/Frameworks'
Cannot create directory '/Library/Geopsy.org/Frameworks': Permission denied
Encountered errors, see above log.

As a workaround, you can manually change permissions before running the installer, from a terminal: Run the installer and change back the ownership to root The installer will be corrected in the future to avoid such manual steps.

Other problem with 2.4.4 under Snow Leopard. Official Qt version moved to 4.8.2 but some remaining links to 4.6.3 make the binaries instable. 2.4.4 for Snow Leopard is now removed from download facility and it will be published again tomorrow.

I have installed Geopsy for Lion. It works pretty good.

Now I have geopsy running
